My company is interested in Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS) implementation, where should we start?
We recommend reviewing this Q&A section which may answer some of your initial questions. To discuss your company’s specifics and recommended next steps, please complete our Contact Form and we will contact you to discuss AWS implementation for your company.
Why is independent third-party certification important when it comes to AWD implementation?
Certification is confirmation of having met the global benchmark for responsible water stewardship. Only independent verification and certification can provide the assurance to external and internal stakeholders that your claims of good water stewardship are credible. Retail customers, wholesalers, consumers, government agencies, regulators, NGOs, local civil society organizations, local communities, investors and development financiers are just some of the audiences that certificate holders use AWS Standard certification.
Does my AWS implementation team need to be trained? Do you offer training?
We recommend that at least a portion of your implementation team receive AWS Training. We offer the training as well as topic-specific webinars tailored to your company’s needs. See our Training page for more information.
How can SCS Technical Advisory Services prepare my site for AWS certification?
SCS Technical Advisory Services are a suite of consulting services with components designed to fit your specific needs. These components can include: high-level implementation guidance and AWS standard review, review of information required in Step 1 of the AWS standard, AWS webinar trainings, gap analysis, and pre-assessment. Together these services are key to developing a streamlined plan for AWS implementation.
What is a Gap Analysis in regards to AWS imlementation?
Gap Analysis is a tool to support developing a process to achieve implementation of the AWS Standard based on existing programs and practices. It will allow your company to determine the best path forward to execute the ASW standard. The assessment provides major gaps and likely non-conformities, again based on existing practices.
What is a Pre-Assessment?
Pre-Assessments are desk review audits with a site-specific scope. The assessment is done at a reduced cost and effort, but still provides major gaps and likely non-conformities at each site that can impact AWS implementation.
What is a Conformity Assessment?
The Conformity Assessment is how an organization becomes certified under the AWS system. The objectives of the assessment are to provide feedback to your company to facilitate continual improvement and determine the operations compliance against the five steps of the AWS Standard.
What is a Surveillance Audit?
AWS requires Surveillance Audits, consistent with the Conformity Assessment, to confirm maintenance of your certification between ReCertification Audits. The Surveillance Assessment is how an organization demonstrates maintenance of the certificate under the AWS system. The Surveillance Audit is review of a limited number of criteria in the standard and any non-conformities identified during the previous audit.
What are the fees for each of these AWS-related services?
Fees are specific to your company’s needs and site locations and the combination of services that best fit your needs. A detailed proposal will be created for you once we understand these needs. To get started complete our Contact Form.
