Privacy Policy

SCS Global Services (SCS) recognizes the importance of protecting the privacy of all information provided by users of our web sites, recipients of our e-mail newsletters, and all of our clients. SCS respects our users' right to privacy and this privacy statement discloses the privacy practices for all programs, services and web sites owned by SCS.

  • Information Collection and Use
SCS Global Services collects information from our website users, subscribers and clients. In section one of our privacy policy, we will describe the type of information we collect and how we use it to provide better services to our clients.
    • E-mail Newsletters & Marketing Emails
When a user chooses to subscribe to one of our e-mail newsletters or marketing emails, we ask for an email address. The email address is used to send the e-newsletter or marketing emails to the user. Recipients can also request, via email or by updating their subscription preferences, to be unsubscribed to any e-newsletter or marketing email. We also collect emails for other purposes on our site such as to request service-related information, complete application forms and access resources.
    • Communications with SCS
Requests for services, information about services, customer support, or other inquiries may be forwarded to the person best suited to provide a response. We may keep e-mails and other information sent to us for internal administrative purposes and/or to help serve customers more effectively.
    • Communications from SCS
In order to best serve our customers, we may send updates that contain important information about our web sites and services – e.g., welcome messages to new subscribers, purchase confirmations, password verifications, and usernames for access to password-protected sites. We may also communicate with a user to meet service requests and for account-related issues via e-mail, phone or regular mail.
    • Online Payments
When clients want to use one of our sites to pay for a product or service, we do not collect credit card information – e.g., account name, number and expiration date. This is handled by our merchant account and is never available to us.
    • Automatic Data Collection
For our internal purposes, we gather the following web site data from our users: time, browser type, navigation history and IP address. This information does not contain anything that can identify users personally. We use this information for our internal security audit log, trend analysis, system administration, and to gather broad information about our user base for aggregate use.
  • Sharing Personal Information
We do not share personally identifiable information with other organizations, except those acting as our agents in providing our product(s)/service(s), and which agree to use it only for the stated purpose and to keep the information secure and confidential. In some instances, as a condition for maintaining accreditation (which enables us to provide certification services) SCS may disclose confidential information to its accreditation bodies or scheme owners who have signed confidentiality agreements with SCS. Our parent, subsidiary, entities into which our company may be merged, or entities to which any of our assets, products, sites or operations may be transferred, will be able to use personal information only in accordance with this privacy policy. We will also disclose information we maintain when required to do so by law – e.g., in response to a court order or a subpoena or other legal obligation, in response to a law enforcement agency's request, or in special cases when we have reason to believe that disclosing this information is necessary to identify, contact or bring legal action against someone who may be causing injury to or interference with (either intentionally or unintentionally) our rights or property.
  • Updating and Correcting Personal Information
If a user's personally identifiable information changes – e.g., address – or if a user no longer wants a service or product, the user may correct or update personal data by contacting SCS Global Services or by calling 510-452-8000.
  • Permission
Our users are given the opportunity to choose whether they want to receive information from us or our affiliates not directly related to the registered services. Instructions for making such choices are contained in e-mails sent by us and on web forms on various pages on our website.
  • Security
We use reasonable precautions to protect our users' personal information and to store it securely. We will not sell, share, or rent any contact, financial, or other information collected from you, except as necessary to fulfill your order. Internally, only employees who need the information to perform a specific job are allowed access to personally identifiable information. Finally, the servers on which we store personally identifiable information are located in a secure environment.
