The California Low Carbon Fuel Standard (LCFS) is a regulatory program administered by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) in which emission credits and debits are generated based on the carbon intensity of different types of transportation fuels. The goal of the program is to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the California transport fuel pool by 20% by 2030. The program began in 2010 and recently implemented a validation/verification component, which requires producers to provide proof of compliance with the LCFS and ensures the ongoing integrity of the program and its goals.
SCS is an approved and accredited LCFS verifier.
