Job Overview
The Instructional Designer collaborates with internal stakeholders and subject-matter experts to determine specific design goals and design, develop, and evaluate instructional materials. This position consults with subject experts from diverse programs to identify course goals and applicable evidence-based instructional strategies. An area of focus for this role will be the integration of innovative online and technology-enhanced course components to strengthen learning through self-paced trainings. The Instructional Designer will lead the effort to create innovative education solutions using sound instructional design methodologies, current technologies, and effective project management to meet organizational product development goals.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Instructional Design and Development

  • Design and develop engaging instructional materials for a range of delivery methods (e.g., self-paced eLearning, instructor-led training)
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to gather content and translate it into clear, learner-centered experiences
  • Apply basic instructional design models (e.g., ADDIE) and leverage the internal SCS E.A.R.T.H framework of learning principles to structure effective learning solutions
  • Review courses during the design, development, and delivery phases for sound pedagogical and instructional design practices

Program Support and Content Development

  • Assist in the development and maintenance of learning programs and curricula, ensuring alignment with learning objectives and organizational goals
  • Create instructional content such as storyboards, outlines, scripts, and assessment tools
  • Develop visually appealing learning materials that follow established brand guidelines
  • Use graphic tools (e.g., Canva, PowerPoint, or Articulate) to support the creation of instructional assets
  • Support the creation of learner resources such as job aids, quick-reference guides, and facilitator materials
  • Adapt and update existing resources to meet evolving training needs

Quality Assurance

  • Review courses and materials for clarity, consistency, and accuracy
  • Review courses and materials for alignment to internal SCS E.A.R.T.H framework of learning principles
  • Perform basic testing of eLearning modules to ensure functionality and proper navigation

Team Collaboration

  • Work closely with other instructional designers, LMS administrators, and SMEs to support cohesive project delivery
  • Participate in team meetings, design reviews, and feedback sessions to continuously improve content and delivery

Learning Technology Support

  • Use learning authoring tools (e.g., Rise, Storyline, etc.) to build and publish training content
  • Upload and maintain content in the LMS as needed, supporting learners and stakeholders with technical questions when appropriate

Accessibility

  • Apply basic accessibility principles in course design to support inclusive learning (e.g., using alt text, providing transcripts)

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent professional experience and
  • 2+ years of experience in instructional design and/or curriculum development, for online learning
  • Ability to work independently to problem solve and navigate ambiguity
  • Excellent technical writing, organization, presentation, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and learn quickly; responsive and adaptive
  • Initiative and ability to handle multiple concurrent projects and work independently
  • Excellent computer skills are essential: fluency in Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with instructional design including use of Articulate Storyline and Articulate Rise

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's Degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or an education-related field
  • Proficiency in other software programs and database management systems
  • Familiarity with Docebo LMS, Vyond, Elevenlabs, Canva, and/or Smartcat
  • Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese

Working Remotely
At this time, SCS Global Services is recruiting all open roles to be remote; allowing our employees the ability to work flexibly and allowing SCS as a company to diversify the experience and perspectives of our growing workforce. This role will be based out of your home office.

Estimated Annual Salary
$65,000 - $80,000
