Job Overview
The Technical Coordinator, Fisheries supports the successful operation of the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) Fisheries program in the Natural Resources division. This position is primarily responsible for managing a portfolio of clients and providing support to the program, audit teams, clients, international affiliates, and colleagues.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, adaptable, and detail-oriented, with a proactive approach to problem-solving and project management. This position will play a key role in developing and formalizing quality documents and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to enhance efficiency and structure within the team. Success in this role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to navigate ambiguity, and a commitment to continuous learning, particularly in mastering certification processes and standards. The Technical Coordinator should bring both passion for process improvement and the discipline to ensure compliance with program requirements, all while thriving in a collaborative, team-driven environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Communication
- Main point of contact for clients, providing advice and assistance in response to operational and technical questions
- Conduct direct communications with MSC; submit queries, variation requests, etc.
- Attend virtual and in-person meetings with team members, clients, and collaborating partners
Audit Coordination and Planning
- Coordinate a portfolio of fishery clients to ensure consistent assessments, audits, and support
- Coordinate internal resources and external auditors for project execution
- Ensure effective scheduling and planning of assessments
- Manage team schedules, workloads, and travel planning, following the established program budget guidelines
- Prepare and set document submission and audit team deliverable deadlines; follow up on team submission of deliverables
- Monitor and track individual project progress to ensure deliverables meet established timelines
- Oversee timeline accountability and procedural compliance
- Ensure databases and profiles are updated with relevant project information
- Provide guidance to the assessment team and oversee the procedural aspects of the MSC assessment process
Auditing
- Contribute to the production and completion of MSC fisheries reports for publication
- Review reports, ensuring these meet MSC Standard requirements and internal style guidelines
- Respond to non-conformities
Program Quality and Development
- Support the MSC Fisheries program in the development and maintenance of program procedures and documents in compliance with all relevant standards and company policies
- Participate in the internal and external audit processes and ensure ongoing compliance with relevant standards and policies
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Fisheries, Marine Conservation Biology, Natural Resources, Environmental Management, or relevant field (e.g., economics, mathematics, statistics) and
- 1+ years of experience in the fisheries sector in management or research experience in marine conservation biology, fisheries science, or fisheries management and
- Experience in project management
- Fluency in English with work experience that includes professional verbal and written communication
- Strong organization, multi-tasking, and prioritization skills
- Proficient with business software including Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and database management
- Strong attention to detail, customer service, and teamwork
- Initiative, good judgment, and ability to work independently under pressure in a changing environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Fisheries, Marine Conservation Biology, Natural Resources, Environmental Management, or relevant field (e.g., economics, mathematics, statistics)
- Fluency in Spanish

Working Remotely
SCS is recruiting all open roles to be remote; allowing our employees the ability to work flexibly and allowing SCS as a company to diversify the experience and perspectives of our growing workforce. This is a home-office based role and may include travel with local, domestic, and/or international trips. Details will be clarified during the recruitment process.
Estimated Annual Salary
$51,000 - $58,000
