Neil is a professional sustainability consultant and auditor with over 20 years of experience working with small to large organizations to develop and advance their sustainability goals. Projects include the development of corporate policies, codes of conduct, materiality assessments, ESG goal setting, responsible sourcing protocols, supplier risk assessments, and supplier audit programs. Neil's experience spans a broad range of industries and issues, including mining and conflict minerals, forestry, pulp & paper and deforestation risk, agriculture, botanicals, biofuels, electronics, transportation, forced labor, and supply chain traceability. In addition, Neil is a credentialled auditor under the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), the Initiative for Responsible Mining Assurance (IRMA) the Alliance for Water Stewardship (AWS), and a number of biofuel and agriculture programs (ISCC, RSB, and Bonsucro). Neil also leads SCS’ corporate sustainability report assurance work as an Associate Certified Sustainability Assurance Practitioner under AccountAbility’s AA1000 Assurance Standard. Since taking a position at SCS in 2005, Neil has conducted corporate and supply chain sustainability assessments of forests, plantations, mines, factories, and offices throughout the Americas, Asia, Australia, Africa, and Latin America. Neil’s education includes a bachelor’s degree in Economics and Environmental Technology at Sonoma State University and a master’s degree in International Environmental Policy from the University of California, San Diego.
