Job Overview
The Application Software Developer will be responsible for designing and developing innovative software solutions that meet our clients' and business needs and expectations. The Application Software Developer will be responsible for analyzing user requirements, designing and coding software programs or systems, testing and debugging software solutions, and documenting work. This position will assist in code reviews and participate in providing input for technology standards, best practices, and software development lifecycle processes. The Application Software Developer will work with software development teams (including resources both onshore and offshore) through the software development process. This position will be reporting directly to the Senior Software Development Manager.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Deep technical expert and thought leader that helps identify and accelerate adoption of leading engineering practices, while staying up on industry innovations, trends, and practices
• Participate in proof-of-concepts with Software Development leadership for emerging technologies that should be integrated and/or introduced to ensure IT has the capabilities needed to respond to future business requirements
• Ensure adherence to best practices regarding technology standards, change management, release management, application lifecycles, and enterprise architecture
• Analyze software specifications and system requirements to design scalable and functional applications and solutions
• Develop software programs or systems using various programming languages and technologies, including microservices/serverless patterns and technical influence on architecture
• Take ownership of the deployment pipeline, ensuring that every code commit is automatically tested, scanned for security vulnerabilities, and deployed via modern CI/CD tools
• Document software programs in code and with diagrams, charts, mark down, and other documentation formats and/or systems
• Collaborate with other software engineers, project managers, product owners, QA engineers, and business stakeholders to ensure quality and timely delivery
• Participate in the entire software development lifecycle, from planning to deployment to support
• Learn about industry developments to stay on top of the latest advancements

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in computer science, information systems, or related field, or equivalent work experience and
• Familiarity with modern application architectures and coding, to include backend and frontend development (e.g., Python, Node.js, jQuery, Angular, React, Flask, etc.) and
• Experience with SQL, NoSQL, and other database types and
• Experience with web services and APIs (RESTful, SOAP, etc.) and
• Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, etc.) and
• Experience with both AI-powered development tools for code acceleration, quality, and automated testing and building AI-integrated capabilities and
• Experience with lean and Agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, etc.)
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills
• Strong organization, prioritization, analytical, and problem-solving skills
• Initiative, innovative, good judgment, and ability to work independently under pressure in a changing environment
• Ability to make sound decisions in a timely manner when solutions are not clear, risk is variable, and information ambiguous

Working Remotely
SCS is recruiting all open roles to be remote; allowing our employees the ability to work flexibly and allowing SCS as a company to diversify the experience and perspectives of our growing workforce. This is a home-office based role and may include travel with local, domestic, and/or international trips. Details will be clarified during the recruitment process.

Estimated Annual Salary
$95,000 - $130,000
