The NURTURE scheme is designed to confirm the health and safety practices of Tesco suppliers, an important protection role that an increasing number retailers and suppliers are adopting to ensure adherence to sound food safety practices. Since 1992 Tesco NURTURE has audited thousands of suppliers of certified fruit and vegetables. In addition, Tesco works in partnership with the Ethical Trading Institute (ETI) to ensure that its suppliers are assessed annually for compliance with ethical standards and worker welfare requirements.
