The Kingfisher Story
Kingfisher birds are beloved around the world, with more than 90 species occupying a wide variety of habitats. They are recognized by their large heads and long beaks, and known for their keen vision, colorful plumage, and skillful hunting. Kingfishers are widely recognized as indicators of environmental health. By the same token, they are vulnerable when their habitats are destroyed. Some species are now threatened with extinction.

Client Usage
If you have undergone certification, verification or validation by SCS, you are entitled to use the marks and labels approved by SCS for the respective program under which you have been evaluated.
Transparency
Transparency in ecolabeling is essential to environmental literacy, and critical in the fight against greenwashing. SCS has promoted transparency in ecolabeling since it was founded in the mid-1980s by:
- complementing its visual marks with required verbiage to ensure that labels are clearly communicating the certified accomplishment
- supporting government agencies in their efforts to define green marketing claims
- introducing the concept of Environmental Product Declarations based on LCA
- reviewing company claims retail sustainability brands to ensure that they meet the tests of accuracy and transparency
Usage Guide
Upon certification, verification or validation, you will receive an SCS Language and Label Guide, which provides detailed guidance in the use of SCS marks and labels in the context of the program under which you have been assessed.
