Navigating the American Carbon World

Navigating the American Carbon World (NACW) is the longest running conference for climate policy and carbon markets. As the largest carbon event, it brings together colleagues from the business, government, nonprofit and academic sectors. In its 12th year running, NACW 2014 will focus on established and emerging carbon markets around the world, the status of potential linkages between markets, national climate change policy and other innovative initiatives. As a kick-off to the show on March 25th, SCS is co-hosting a day-long tour of the Lompico Forest Carbon project with the Climate Action Reserve and Sempervirens Fund. Developed and maintained by the nonprofit land trust Sempervirens Fund, this Improved Forest Management project has reduced more than 12,000 tons of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions since 2007, the equivalent of permanently taking 2,500 cars off of the road. Lunch and transportation are included for a registration fee of $65.

14th National Council for Science and the Environment (NCSE)

This year's NCSE conference brings together 1,200 key individuals from many fields of sciences and engineering, government and policy, business and civil society to advance solutions to climate change. The conference will be organized around two areas: 1) the Built Environment, and 2) Agriculture and Natural Resources.

SCS Global Services is co-hosting a 1.5 hour Symposium and 3 hour Workshop aimed at addressing the scale of response needed to abate warming in Arctic and other regional "hot spots", and the importance of applying updated climate accounting metrics that integrate the latest climate science. These metrics allow for more accurate modeling of the benefits of various mitigation options, and pinpoint the countries and sectors in which concerted action can be most effective.  The symposium and workshop will engage policymakers, industry representatives, scientists, and other stakeholders in a lively discussion of the realistic options at hand.
