Raley's was the world's first supermarket to independently test fresh fruits and vegetables for pesticide residues, and to encourage its growers to meet a higher standard than required by law. Together with SCS, Raley's pioneered this program as a way to reward farmers who use integrated pest management or organic production techniques to manage crop pests and diseases without leaving detectable residues in food.
Raley's Agricheck label requires lab testing on a representative sample from each labeled product, proving that there are no residues above 0.05 ppm, or lower if required by law. This tough standard is much stricter than federal requirements, and has resulted in the reduction in use of hundreds of thousands of pounds of pesticides, helping the environment, farm workers and the public.
