Environmental Certification Specialists of the Year Award Received by SCS Global Services under Clean Energy Awards Program

For the second time in a row, SCS Global Services (SCS) has been recognized by Global Energy News under its Clean Energy Awards program. This week, SCS was named an Environmental Certification Specialist of the Year for 2018.

As described by Global Energy News, based in the United Kingdom, the 2018 Clean Energy Awards “acknowledge the organizations, agencies and individuals who strive to provide the services and solutions which will allow us to live and work in a cleaner and safer environment whilst remaining economically viable.”

Headquartered California, and operating worldwide, SCS Global Services has been an international pioneer and leader in third-party certification and standards development for more than three decades, launching its services long before sustainability became an accepted business paradigm or household word. Its programs span industry sectors from natural resource management (forestry, mining, fisheries, and agriculture) and energy generation to finished materials manufacturing for the green building, household and industrial markets. In the energy sector, SCS provides:

  • Detailed life-cycle assessment studies of energy generation systems and products that contribute to energy efficiency;
  • Third-party certification of biomass and biomaterials under the Roundtable on Sustainable Biomaterials (RSB), the Sustainable Biomass Program (SBP), the International Sustainability in Carbon Certification (ISCC), and the Bonsucro label for sugarcane;
  • GHG inventories, carbon footprinting, and carbon offset validation and verification under a variety of internationally recognized schemes, including the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS), California Air Resources Board (CARB), the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), the Climate Action Reserve (CAR), and the American Carbon Registry (ACR).

SCS has evaluated a wide spectrum of energy-related projects, from renewable and conventional power generation to energy efficiency initiatives on college campuses, in transportation networks, and in industrial processes.

Laura Hunter, Awards Co-ordinator, said: “As clean energy is such an important topic for our global society, I am proud to be able to showcase the leading lights in the market through this prestigious awards programme.”
